Alicante Nightlife

There are many areas in town where visitors are sure to find entertaining night spots, and where fun and excitement are guaranteed.

El Barrio is the name given to the old quarter of town, with a profusion of action-packed pubs, bars and cafés. Some offer live music, mostly jazz. The youth scene is usually in the area called simply La Zona (The Area), just off La Esplanada, the seafront promenade well stocked with pavement cafés where one can have a meal, a drink or an ice cream. Another choice is    La Ruta de la Madera (The Wood Route), just behind Avenida Alfonso el Sabio, which receives this name because most of the spots in this area are decorated in wood, much like America’s western saloons. El Port, or the harbour, is the most modern area for leisure and entertainment sites, with a wide range of night spots for all tastes. More night clubs can be found in nearby San Juan during the summer.
